I\u2019m a S\/M and this one is really oversized on me, which is how I like it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Back piece:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pull out 165 needles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a mock rib (I do a method similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=QGysvcIwsus&amp;t=25s\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=QGysvcIwsus&amp;t=25s<\/a>)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use a hook to cast on every needle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pull back every other needle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set tension to 8 and row counter to 000<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knit 9 rows (r9)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set tension to 10 to knit 1 row (R10)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set tension back to 8, and knit 8 rows (R18)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pull out the needles you pulled back previously, and use a latch tool to place the empty knots from the cast on onto these needles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set tension to 10 and fasten - rib is now complete (R19)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make the colorwork on the bottom:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Set tension to 8 and row counter to 000 to begin the colorwork section. The following chart is the bottom of the front piece, I start at the bottom and working my way up. I did all of this manually. When you\u2019re done you should have 29 rows.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"990\" height=\"174\" src=\"blob:http:\/\/swooldesigns.com\/3c0c3958-d0b0-4606-a28d-d7c46273d4d9\"><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you\u2019re done with these 29 rows, set row counter back to 000 and do a single color green for 30 rows (R30).\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At this point, use some waste yarn to place little markers at the end needles on each side - these marks where you\u2019ll attach the sleeves later.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the row counter back to 000 to continue.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now knit another 51 rows with the single color green<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then knit these 49 rows - making the row counter end at 100! As the chart above, I start at the bottom and work my way up.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"825\" height=\"245\" src=\"blob:http:\/\/swooldesigns.com\/92a13341-485f-4c56-90b5-abaf5a564bd2\"><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before casting off, count 52 needles from the left side - and place a marker. Do the same from the right side. This marks where we will make the neckline later.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I then cast off this whole piece.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Front piece:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I make the front piece exactly like the back piece.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The neckline:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The markers on the front and back piece, should already mark 52 masks for the shoulder on each side.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use chalk to mark the neckline which we will cut out. The picture below has a red line showing roughly where I marked, so that you can use the colorwork as a reference for making the neckline<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"537\" height=\"646.9948077458972\" src=\"blob:http:\/\/swooldesigns.com\/f6444580-735e-4cc4-b5e1-a44f952d885c\"><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then I used a sowing machine to zig zag the marked line a number of times (like how you do when steeking knit). This needs to be done in a way that secures each mask, so it won\u2019t unravel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once\u00a0 you\u2019re confident it is secure, use scissors to cut out the neckline.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pull out 150 needles on the machine, and fasten the whole neckline onto it. One shoulder should meet in the middle of the machine, and both pieces should be hung to face you with the wrong side.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set tension to 8 and row counter to 0.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knit 8 rows<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set tension to 10 and knit 1 row<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set tension back to 8 and knit another 8 rows<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hang the beginning of the collar onto the needles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set tension to 10 and knit 1 row to fasten the neckline<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cast off the whole thing - neckline is complete<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can now fasten both shoulders - time to make the arms!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arms:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pull out 162 needles<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take your jumper and make it face the wrong side, and place the armwhole onto the needles (the markers you fastened shows where to start and end your arms!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Set tension to 10 nd knit 1 row just to get started<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now you can just follow the pattern below to complete the arm. There is an increase every 4 rows at each side, and the colorwork is complete at row 144 - where you should have 94 masks remaining.<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"830\" height=\"999.4832881623142\" src=\"blob:http:\/\/swooldesigns.com\/260f00fb-0aa7-4184-b4f9-cdc93bc24f6c\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cuffs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pull out 62 needles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With the wrong side facing you, place the 94 masks from the end of the arms onto the 64 - it\u2019ll be scrunched a bit!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now make cuffs the same way you made the ribbing at the start of the front and back piece, and cast off after\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All that remains now is to sow together from the underarm to the waist ribbing, and to weave in the 1 billion ends<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recipe for a basic machine knitted jumper  in one size, featuring a mock ribbing and steeking for the collar.
